Since 2012, Ambassador Bénédicte Frankinet is the Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations in New York. Prior to this, she was the director of the United Nations at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Frankinet also worked at the Embassies of Belgium in Brasilia and in Paris and she was the Belgian ambassador to Zimbabwe (1999-2003) and Israel (2008-2012). Ambassador Frankinet holds degrees in political sciences, social science and journalism from the Free University of Brussels.
